2012 to Current – Managing Director of Why Not Theatre (Artistic Director Ravi Jain)
For Why Not, I’ve helped produce award winning new Canadian work, toured shows across the world, present shows from several countries and languages locally, co-develop innovative ventures (Riser Project, ThisGen, Pay What You Can Afford Ticketing), and helped build it into one of the fastest growing theatre companies in the country. But don’t take my word for it, here’s some other people’s words about the company, and here’s some more.
2013 to Ongoing – Strategic Consultant for a number of arts and cultural organizations, including Small World Music, Dean Artists Management, Toronto International Film Festival, Reel Asian Film Festival, Canadian Stage and others.
As a consultant I have been involved in solving various kinds of problems, and I get most excited about finding newer/better ways to do things (innovation, business strategy, planning), changing who engages with the arts (marketing, outreach, community), how they engage (digital, design, outreach) and anything to do with numbers (fundraising, grants, finance).
2015 to Ongoing – Teaching
I’ve been called on to come in to teach/speak on various aspects of producing, arts management, design etc at York University, Ryerson University, Generator and Toronto Fringe Festival.
2018 – DiverseCity Fellow (CivicAction Leadership Foundation), a program for diverse rising leaders in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) who are interested in impacting change in their communities
2018 – TAC Leaders Lab Fellow with the Toronto Arts Council, a program by TAC and The Banff Centre for mid- to senior-level arts professionals who have demonstrated the potential to lead change in their organizations, communities or arts sectors.
